The Most Important Thing – Part 5

Connect group:

  • Choose ONE NIGHT a week to hold your connect group.
  • Ask each member of your connect group to bring their Bible.
  • If you want, you can also take communion together.
  •

1. Ice breaker:

Choose one of the following topics and talk about it:

a) Every Family has certain unique rituals: What is an interesting ritual that your family does regularly?

b) How do you, as a family, make sure that the younger generation in your family is heard?

2. Prayer: Open with prayer.

3. Read:

Our Core Text for Today:

Judges 2:10-11

… the next GENERATION did not know the Lord. … nor did they know his great deeds …., … (they) then did what was WRONG in the sight of the Lord: they SERVED the Baals.

It all starts with Families:

Gen 2:24

Therefore, a man shall leave his father and mother and LIVE TOGETHER with his wife, and they shall become ONE.

Prov 22:6

GIVE GUIDANCE (mentor) a young man in the way he should go, and when he is old, he will not DEPART from it.

Deut 6:6-7

These commandments … shall be in your mind. You shall INSTRUCT them to your children and TALK about them when you sit in your house and when you walk, when you lie down and when you get up.

4. Talk in your Connect Group about the following:

Love for God, Love for People

Evangelism and Discipleship

Leadership and Mentoring

Healthy Families, Healthy Church:

This week, we are talking about Healthy Families.

Every Family has certain rituals that they practice, such as going on vacation together every year. Many families also make time to eat together every night. Some families enjoy special days together.

Healthy Families have learned the art of communication. It is not difficult in these families to add value through edifying, encouraging, and even admonitory words. Healthy families talk to each other.

Talk about the things of life, but also the things of God

Deut 6:7 says: “TALK” when you are –

1. At home – Try to talk together after every meal

2. On the road – Talk in the car on the way to school

3. Going to bed – Pray for each other before you go to bed

4. Getting up – Pray for each other before you leave the house

Make these four areas places where rituals can be formed in the family to develop a healthy family.

Reread today’s texts and talk about them:

• Why are healthy families so important to God?

• What can we do to keep our family and relatives healthy?

Now enjoy Communion together as a Connect Group:

  • Ask the Lord to show you for whom in your family you should pray this week.
  • Ask the Lord to show you to whom in your family or relatives you should talk this week?
