CONNECT GROUPS:

The Most Important Thing– Part 4

Connect group:

● Choose ONE NIGHT a week to hold your connect group.

● Ask each member of your connect group to bring their Bible.

● If you want, you can also take communion together.

1. Ice breaker:    Choose one of the following topics and talk about it:a) Why is love so important in leadership? b) Why is leadership an act of love?

2. Prayer: Open with prayer.

3. Read: Our Core Text for Today: Rom 13:1 Let every person be SUBJECT to the governing authorities (leadership), for there is no authority except from GOD, and those that exist have been APPOINTED by God Rom 13:2 … so that whoever RESISTS the authority (leadership), RESISTS the ordinance of God; and those who resist will receive JUDGMENT.  Rom 13:5 Therefore, it is NECESSARY (important) to SUBJECT, not only because of punishment, but also because of CONSCIENCE (your heart).  Heb 13:17 Be OBEDIENT to those who have the rule over you (leaders) and SUBMIT, as they will have to give an account (to God), so that they may do this with joy and not with sighing …

 4. Talk in your Connect Group about the following: Love God, Love PeopleEvangelism and DiscipleshipLeadership and Mentoring Each of us finds ourselves in a leadership position, whether we want to or not. There are three levels of leadership:• Leadership up – There are leaders above us, and we must respect and obey them. • Leadership sideways – There are leaders next to us, e.g. colleagues. We must also respect them, and we must learn how to serve with them. • Leadership down – There are people we must guide and serve. In our scriptures above we find out how we should respond to the leaders above us. God asks that we obey the leaders above us. When we are under leadership, we experience obedience, sometimes even in situations where we do not want to obey. We learn how to obey God. However, when we fulfill a leadership role and we are a leader to people below us, it is important to do this role with love. Reread today’s texts and talk about them: • What is the difference between Leadership and Mentoring? • Why must both take place in love?

Now enjoy Communion together as a Connect Group: ·
